Crowns
Crowns are fixed prosthetic devices that are cemented onto an existing tooth and can only be removed by the dentist. A crown is used to entirely cover or "cap" a damaged tooth. Besides strengthening a damaged tooth, a crown can be used to improve its appearance, shape or alignment. Porcelain or ceramic crowns can be matched to the colour of your natural teeth. Other materials include gold and metal alloys, acrylic and ceramic.
Veneers
Veneers can be used for:
-
Repair or improve discoloured, dull, stained or chipped teeth
-
Restore worn down teeth
-
Teeth with gaps between them
-
Teeth that are misaligned, uneven or irregular shaped
A veneer is a thin layer of restorative material placed over a tooth surface, either to improve the aesthetics or to protect a damaged tooth surface. There are two main types of veneers - porcelain and composite.
Composite veneers are usually placed directly onto the tooth by the dentist and shaped for individual aesthetics. Composite veneers are a good economical restorative solution to improve the appearance of your teeth substantially.
Porcelain veneers are extremely thin yet very durable porcelain covers for your teeth. They are bonded permanently with strong dental grade cement. Porcelain veneers look great and feel just like your natural teeth. They have a very life like lustre and appearance.
